"Sometimes when you're young, you think nothing can hurt you. It's like being invincible. Your whole life is ahead of you, and you have big plans. Big plans. To find your perfect match. The one that completes you. But as you get older, you realize it's not always that easy. It's not until the end of your life that you realize how the plans you made were simply plans. At the end, when you're looking back instead of forward, you want to believe that you made the most of what life gave you. You want to believe that you're leaving something good behind. You want it all to have mattered." -- Lucas (One Tree Hill)
I went to the prenatal clinic yesterday for my 30 Week visit. My uterus is a bit larger than average for how far along I am. So the doctor says that Landon is going to be a big boy. (I could have told him that) He also told me that he's VERY strong for how far along I am as well and I will possibly deliver before my due date. I'm happy that he's growing to be a big and healthy boy and if I get to meet him a little early under those circumstances then I think that's pretty cool. *smile*
I've updated my DVD collection finally. It's been a while that I've been trying to find a good program that can keep my DVD's organized and also allow me to publish my collection online. I finally found this really great program called DVD Profiler that I'm really happy with. It allows you to enter you DVD by the bar code number so the info about the DVD is totally accurate for that specific edition. And I can upload the list online to their database in order to share my collection with others. I now have 410 DVD's in my collection. If you want to make a request for a review of a certain movie or television show, or you just want to see what I have in my collection then you can view the collection HERE.
Hubby and I bought a HD-DVR yesterday for our satellite. I'm so excited! I don't really care about the High Definition channels really, HD is cool and all, and don't get me wrong I'm excited to be able to watch all my shows in HD, but I've ALWAYS wanted a Digital Video Recorder. LOL It just fascinates me how you can pause live TV and program the receiver to record all of your favorite shows. It's just so sweet! I figured with the baby coming soon I'll be making use of the pausing and recording options so it won't be a waste of money that's for sure. LOL
Shows are finally coming back after that TOO Long strike. Kicking off this comeback is One Tree Hill this coming Monday followed by Gossip Girl the Monday after. Being at home all the time since I went on maternity leave I've been going crazy without any new Television shows. And the worst thing is that I'm not even joking. I broke out into a fit the other night when Hubby asked me if I wanted to watch a movie. I just freaked out and told him "I'm sick of watching Movies God Damn it! All I want to do is watch my shows!" LOL He really can't wait until my pregnancy is over.
Post ten things that recently made you happy, then tag ten other people and spread the LOVE!
1. Giving myself a makeover and truly embracing makeup for the first time in my life. 2. Hubby posting on facebook"Ryan can't wait to meet his baby boy!" 3. Growing my nails for the first time in my life and NOT biting them. 4. Listening to "Innocence by Avril Lavigne" over and over again. 5. Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. I laughed so hard I cried. 6. Making a Rachel Ray recipe and it was a BIG hit! 7. Finally getting my first check from my maternity leave and being able to get my budget on track. 8. Watching Jensen Ackles on Season 2 of Dark Angel. He is hilarious! 9. Finally finishing the sorting of the bags of baby clothes and having my dining room back! 10. Waking up after an actual good night's sleep. *sigh*
The tagged... ( only 5 instead of 10... why? Cause I feel like it. :P )
Ok, moving on. Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback on all the things I've received so far for the baby. My baby shower is the last Sunday of this month and I'm hoping that I will be receiving just about everything else I'll be needing so I'll be already for June! I'll keep all of you up to date with what I've gotten at the shower and as soon as the nursery is all set up I will certainly be taking pictures to post here for all of you to see.
I took a new picture of my belly today. I'm really liking this one. It's a bit egg shaped but hey there's a baby in there... I can't control the way he wants to sit. heheh
So... I've been feeling really lazy this past week. I haven't even had the energy to read blogs or post a blog of my own. I think I might be suffering from Cabin Fever a little bit. I need fresh air and it's just too cold or too icy to go out for walks just yet. Well today just may be my day! It is currently -3 degrees Celsius which in Fahrenheit is 26.6 degrees. This is a nice day here in New Brunswick, Canada during the month of April and it it still early! By noon it might be warmer than freezing! haha I hope i will be able to get out there and get a good walk in.
And now the moment you've all been waiting for... Movie Review! CLICK HERE to read about I Am Legend.
I've had the opportunity in the last couple of days to watch some movies and try my hand at a new TV series. Well, the verdict is in and it's time to post the reviews.
Deadwood I tend to be a little more picky with my television selections than my movie selections. Usually, when it comes to movies, I tend to enjoy the westerns. So, when Hubby asked me if I wanted to give Deadwood a try I figured "why not?" But after watching the first two episodes, I have to say, I'm not impressed at all and here's why: For me a show is all about the characters and their development. I can't get into a show if the characters and their storylines aren't well put together from the beginning. This is the case with Deadwood. I truly don't care about any of the characters at this point and for whatever reason, am not even intrigued enough to stick around to see if anything new is learned in the coming episodes. My rule of thumb when trying a new television show is to truly give 4 episodes a try and take it from there. I'm having a hard time bringing myself to even watch the next 2 in order to stick with my rule. I'm going to have to say guys... This one will not be joining the DVD collection. 1 STAR out of 5.
Awake This movie stars Canadian hottie, Hayden Christensen and super sexy Jessica Alba. The previews make like the movie is about this medical phenomenon know as Anesthesia Awareness (where a person is put to sleep for surgery but his brain is completely aware of everything happening to him). Hayden's character is going under the knife for open-heart surgery and he unfortunately experiences this phenomenon. Now at this point, this movie could actually go many different ways. This Anesthesia Awareness thing is some scary shit and could easily be turned into a HORROR movie experience. But it didn't really go there at all. In fact it really wasn't anything like what the previews were depicting. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't at all what I was expecting. It ended up being more like the movie "The Invisible" than any type of horror or thriller movie I've seen. Over all, even though it wasn't what I was expecting at all I still enjoyed the story. I was just not completely thrilled with the ending. That being said. it deserves 3 and a half STARS out of 5.
Into The Wild The very first time I saw Eddie Vedder's video for this movie I just knew that I was going to love the movie. And I was right. Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless' journey to find the meaning of life by abandoning his sheltered life and taking on the wilderness. Depicted as somewhat of a selfish young man, he leaves his entire life including his unconventional and overbearing (but obviously still loving) parents and a sister who worshiped the ground he walked on. The story is adventurous and intriguing. I never once felt like it was slowing down. Sean Penn did it once again with this excellent portrayal of a young man suffering form social claustrophobia in a material world and his need to break free. An amazing film! 4 and a half STARS out of 5.
Hubby and I rented The Assassination of Jesse James last night and all I have to say is... "That's one hour of my life I'll never get back". I mean crap really doesn't even describe this TERIBLE movie. As you can tell from my title, I didn't even finish this movie. 2 hours and 40 minutes!! As if! A little over an hour was long enough for me.
Casey Affleck, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this movie, actually was pretty good at portraying an awkward and obsessed character and I have to admit his nomination made sense. That being said, there is nothing else good about this movie. DO NOT waste your time. For anyone who knows me and knows how much I give a movie a chance, for me to not even allow it to finish, you know it must have been real crap.
We should have rented "America Gangster" instead....
Oh well, no use in dwelling on an hour I can't possibly get back...
*EDIT* As an added thought I just want to say that of all the Oscar nominated and winning movies this year the only one I am interested in really seeing is Juno. I just know I'm going to love that one. :) *EDIT*
In totally unrelated news, my friend brought over NINE garbage bags full of baby clothes the other day! How sweet is that?? The only problem is now I have to go through all the bags and decide what I want to keep, what I want to send to my cousin (who's also having a boy) and what I want to send to charity. I've currently sorted through three bags, but I'm taking a break for a bit, constantly bending over into the bags is making my belly sore. LOL I might continue with it tonight or tomorrow after work we'll see how I feel.
Today I went to the hospital for my mandatory, "24 week" blood work to check for diabetes. I brought my sister cause it said on the letter from the hospital that I'd be there for 2 hours. Basically, what happens is you fast without food or water for 12 hours before your appointment, then you go in and they take some of your blood. Next they get you to drink this REALLY SUGAR LOADED orange pop. You have ten minutes to drink this sucker and ten minutes only. It's not pleasant but I'll admit I've tasted worse. Now is the boring part. Wait two hours at the hospital. Thank god Lisa was there! It was such a long wait. I was soooo starving too (cause I hadn't eaten after 8pm the night before) But I got through it. At 10am I went back and gave more of my blood. Immediately afterwards, I nearly ran to the coffee shop in the hospital for breakfast. LOL I must have been a sight waddling that quickly.LOL
Ryan and I went to see Halloween last night! I was so excited. I had been waiting for this movie since I had seen the original back in 1998, almost immediately after watching H20. We don’t have a movie theatre worth mentioning in our town so in order to see pretty much any movie before DVD release we have to travel to a city an hour away. Splitting the gas money with two of our friends, we ended up paying $10. Then being that this is a highly anticipated blockbuster the ticket prices were $9.50 each. So, so far our outing has cost $30 and we haven’t even watched the movie yet! Needless to say if you’re gonna travel that far to enjoy movie theatre cinema, you HAVE to buy popcorn and a drink… there goes another $10. Anyways, so now we’ve paid $40… I think it’s time to go sit in the theatre and actually enjoy the movie. Once in the theatre, Ryan and I gobble up a bunch of too salty popcorn and drink up all of our 7up. So I go back to the canteen to get more 7up. As soon as I sit down the movie starts! Yes! Halloween! So anyways, I’m right into the movie for about forty minutes just loving what Rob Zombie came up with for Michael’s childhood storyline and then suddenly… my belly hurts and I’m nauseated. No No No. This is totally not happening here. Not during a viewing of my most highly anticipated movie for years aside from Warcraft comming in 2009. At this point I’m pissed cause I have to go the bathroom to be sick and what gets me more mad is the fact that I paid a lot of money to see the damn movie in the first place. I don’t know what it was that made me so sick to my stomach. It might be all the extra calories and fat I ate that my body is just really not used to anymore. Or it could have been all the sugar in the 7up since I cut sugars out of my diet as well. Either way, I was sick and I missed about 20 minutes of the movie. Now, all that ranting a raving being said, I want to make it highly know that aside from the 20 minutes or so that I missed (which Ryan was so nice to fill in for me) This movie was such an awesome pleasure to watch! There were no holes in this storyline. And I’m sure if you’re a classic Michael Myers fan, you know all the other Halloween movies have a lot of holes. Anyways, so as not to spoil anyone, I’m not going to be getting into the plot or the story but something needs to be said, and that is that Rob Zombie portrayed a young individual slowly being consumed by “pure evil” so amazingly well. And the importance of the mask he wears as a child and as an adult to do his evil deeds is explored and really made clear and relevant. I’m very happy with the result of this movie! FIVE STARS!
